[1] Weather
The average daily temperatures during May in Barcelona range from a low of 57°F to a high of 75°F.
[2] Packing
Power outlets are Type C/F (230V). Electronics will need an adapter.
Curling irons, straighteners, and some travel blow dryers will work safely abroad with a simple plug adapter if they are labeled dual-voltage (such as "100–240V").
[3] Getting Around
Taxis can be the easiest way to and from the airport.
-
FreeNow: a European ride-sharing app that books licensed taxis. FreeNow usually has the most cars available and many local drivers use it.
-
Cabify: a Spanish ride-sharing app with private drivers, like Uber or Lyft in the US.
-
Uber: mostly books licensed taxis in Barcelona, with few private-car options, and drivers can be harder to find, especially at busy times.
Barcelona is very walkable and the metro is clean and easy to use! and tap-to-pay works almost everywhere.
[4] Dining
Cafés and bars open at around 7am–8am for breakfast and usually serve snacks and tapas all day.
Sit-down restaurants typically do not open until 1:00–1:30 p.m. These restaurants also close at approximately 4:00-8pm for siesta.
Dinner service resumes around 8:00 p.m., with most locals dining around 9:00-11:00p.m.
Spanish dining customs favor later hours and a leisurely pace. Just like eating with Andrea & Grant!
